Yuletide Reflections for the Weary

The infinite God revealed Himself in sixty-six books.

Not because He is small,
but because we are finite.

We could never grasp all of His omnipotence, omnipresence, or omniscience.
So in His kindness, He revealed what we needed to know
in ways we were meant to receive.

Maybe we feel overwhelmed because we consume too much?
Maybe we try to do too much as finite beings, and forget to rest.

We are surrounded by content:
social media, blogs, apps, videos, news articles,
and now the output from our LLM of choice.

For those of us trying to keep up, it can be exhausting.

But perhaps we were never meant to generate or consume endlessly.
Perhaps we were meant to choose wisely:

What we produce.
What we consume.
And when we rest.

This Christmas, my invitation is simple: slow down.

Rest from over-production and over-consumption.
Meet the God who revealed Himself with intention and care:

Not too much.
Not too little.
But enough.

In Sixty-six books,
written for our nourishment
and our right consumption.
